Emera Newfoundland & Labrador (ENL) is building and will own a 500 MW +/- 200kV HVDC transmission project; the Maritime Link, between the island of Newfoundland (NL) and Nova Scotia (NS). This project includes two 170 kilometre subsea cables and approximately 400 kilometres of overhead transmission line.
ENL is currently seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from experienced companies to provide Technical Surveillance Services in the interior and south-western area of Newfoundland and in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia in association with the construction of transmission lines, converter stations, switchyards and grounding sites.
The scope of work for this initiative will include Technical Surveillance Services for verification of contractor location and quantities, soil compaction and concrete testing, material verification, and conductor installation verification. As well as pull tests and anchor tests of guy wires. The delivery of drawings and electronic files associated with the above work is also required.
The intent of this activity is to identify companies interested in participating in this procurement process and to ensure the Request for Proposal reflects applicable input from potential service providers. Companies interested in participating in this procurement process are required to complete and submit the EOI questionnaire to ENL by 4 p.m. NDT on Friday, July 24, 2015.
ENL is committed to meeting our obligations under the Industrial Benefits Agreement, finalized with the provinces of Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador in 2014.
