Norm Dimmell
Norm is President of Emera Newfoundland & Labrador. Based in St. John’s, he leads the team responsible for the operation of the Maritime Link and Emera’s related investments in Newfoundland & Labrador.
Prior to joining ENL in 2016, Norm held several leadership roles with Noble Denton, GL Noble Denton and DNV GL’s oil and gas division spanning almost 20 years, with a focus on risk management and assurance in marine operations.
Norm is currently a director with Net Zero Atlantic, a member of the CIGRE Canada Executive Committee and an acting warden for Camp 20 for Corporation of the Seven Wardens Inc. He was previously a long-serving director and past Chair with the St. John’s Board of Trade, a past director of the International Association of Marine Warranty Surveyors and a past president of the Canadian Ski Patrol Terra Nova Zone.
Norm holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Ocean and Naval Architectural Engineering from Memorial University and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Newfoundland and Labrador.
David joined Emera Newfoundland and Labrador in the fall of 2022 as General Counsel & VP Business Development.
Prior to his role at Emera Newfoundland and Labrador, David held the following roles at Nova Scotia Power: Vice President, Commercial, Vice President, Fuels and Energy, and Vice President of Regulatory and Legal Services. In fulfilling these various roles, David has provided strategic advice on a broad range of corporate and commercial issues, as well as mergers and acquisitions.
Having previously worked with Aliant and the Government of Nova Scotia as a Director of Policy and Regulatory Affairs, David is well-versed in the complexities of regulatory environments. He began his legal career as an advocate at Stewart McKelvey Stirling Scales.
David earned a combined LLB and MBA from Dalhousie University and also has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary’s University. He was admitted as a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society in 1996.
David served two terms as a board member with the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association and is committed to advancing the practice of law through continuous professional and personal development.
Anne-Marie is Emera Newfoundland and Labrador’s Senior Director, Operations. She joined our team in 2017 following more than 15 years’ experience in other Emera companies, including Director Commercial Asset Management at Emera Energy and a diverse range of senior roles at Nova Scotia Power overseeing and leading areas including marketing and sales, energy efficiency, revenue operations and commercial regulatory projects. She started at NSP in Power Production after several years with Stora Enso Port Hawkesbury.
Anne-Marie is a member of Engineers Nova Scotia, holding a Bachelor Degree in Engineering and Applied Science from Memorial University. She also earned a Master of Business Administration from Saint Mary’s University. Passionate about community, she serves on the Board of the Spryfield Community Association and also coaches youth basketball.
As Director of Regulatory Affairs & Governance at Emera Newfoundland and Labrador, Shellie leads our regulatory applications and compliance filings. Shellie joined our team in 2012 after over 14 years at other Emera affiliates. In addition to her extensive regulatory experience, Shellie has played a lead role in developing and overseeing governance processes, as well as land rights management for the Maritime Link.
Prior to joining Emera Newfoundland and Labrador, Shellie held multiple roles at Nova Scotia Power and Emera Energy in marketing, regulatory affairs and customer service.
She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University.
