First Nations
Emera Newfoundland & Labrador (ENL) is committed to building respectful and cooperative relationships with Mi’kmaq in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.
Emera Newfoundland & Labrador adheres to the following guiding principles throughout the Project and in our operations:

- openness and transparency
- building long term relationships
ENL signed two Socio-Economic Agreements with Qalipu Mi'kmaq First Nations Band in 2014 and with the Assembly of NS Mi'kmaq Chiefs in 2015. The Socio-Economic Agreements supported continued dialogue, promotion of training and of employment and business opportunities related to construction of the Maritime Link.
During operations, ENL continues to seek opportunities to support Mi'kmaq communities with a particular focus on education.
